What is coaching?
It is a relationship
Coaching is partnering with the client in a thought-provoking and creative process that helps uncovers “ah-ha” moments to evoke transformation. In Coaching, we believe you are naturally creative, resourceful and whole; and it is also about the integration of the whole self – head, heart, human body and spirit. Coaching will not hand you the answers, but believes the answers already live inside you and you already have the potential and choice to make the change. It focuses on the person, not the problem.
Coaching gives attention to goals and outcomes with accountability as the key. Focus is on the client, the ways the client develops, grows and makes better choices. It is not necessary that the coach have expertise or background in the area of interest or topic at hand. What the coach brings to the relationship is expertise in coaching skills and in fact, this sometimes lack of expertise of the topic at hand can benefit the relationship. Both the coach and client are equal partners in the relationship and do the work together.
What are the distinctions from Consulting, Mentoring and THerapy?
Consulting focuses on achieving a particular outcome where the consultant provides analysis, proposed process. The consultant brings experience, training and expertise in a particular area that matches the requirements necessary to achieve results. Consultant is seen as the expert and does the work.

Mentoring focuses more on personal development than problem solving or goal achievement. There is a teaching and modeling role for the mentor and, as a consequence a difference in "rank". Mentor are usually in the same field and are often on similar career trajectories. Typically, mentees grant power to their mentors and mentee does the work.

Therapy focuses on mental and emotional wellbeing of the client. Therapist are trained to diagnose emotional problems and work with clients to heal the emotional wounds.
